William Jeske just sent out this update:
In case you were wondering, Michael is doing well and recuperating at Sequoia Hospital. The operation was textbook and he's groggy as hell. Poor boy is bored, too. There's no television nor radio in his room, only a window with the drapes shut whose view would ordinarily give him a pristine view of another part of the hospital.
He should be out Friday and has arranged for his housemate to pick him up.

|How to make a Aahz|
3 parts competetiveness
5 parts crazyiness
1 part ego
Stir together in a glass tumbler with a salted rim. Add a little sadness if desired!
Went to Auburn on Memorial Day for mentula's open-mic. Was a pretty good time (full details of the Invasion show will be posted in </span>wpf shortly).
Got back on Tuesday and went to Bomb Shelter, already feeling sick. Becky had to go home at the break cause she was sick, so I had to take over hosting. As soon as I closed out the show I adjourned to the restroom... It's odd throwing up in a bar's restroom when you haven't even been drinking :-\
Anyway, whatever it was that got mwe sick hung around for a couple more days and I've been laid up since that night, a bucket next to the bed, and not enough energy to drag myself the few feet to the 'puter to work. :sigh:
Just downloaded 250+ email messages that accrued while I was laid up. I HATE being sick :(
So I've been reading a lot of material on professional wrestling in general and the WWF/E in particular to get more of the history of the pro wrestling world in my brain and better plot the future of the wpf.
I tore through Mick Foley's first book Have A Nice Day a couple of weeks ago and loved every word of it. Now I'm reading The Rock's first book, and I gotta say it sucks. Reads like it was written by the boastful egomaniac character of The Rock instead of the real person behind the persona. Anyway, that's not the point here.
The point here is that as I journeyed through my life with Mick's book I was never embarrassed at all by what I was readin. Sure, I know how pro wrestling's generally perceived, but I just don't give a rat's ass. I also had no qualms carrynig around and reading an oversized book called Tonight In This Very Ring which had several large action photos of wrestlers on it. However, I now find myself hiding the cover of The Rock's book. And i have to ask myself why...
Is it because The Rock has absolutely zero "subculture" credit and is basically a media sensation? Is it because the books sucks? I dunno, just thought it was pretty weird....

Okay, so I don't want to post this over in the wpf community yet, cause gotta post some promo stuff there in the morning, but I'll let y'all in on a little secret, sorta...
There's going to be a big announcement at tonight's WPF: Melee. It concerns an event that will be taking place at the June Melee, but if you're a poet and you like money then you might want to make sure you head down to tonight's Melee and clear your calendar for the evening of Saturday, June 19th as well. Cause this is gonna be BIG!
I can't say more now, but trust me you'll want to be at the show anyway, cause we've got a hell of a night planned with Ratpack Slim taking on Anthony R. Miller in the Main Event and so much more.
If you get hospitalized or sumthin' and have to miss tonight's show then I recommend you start checking the WPF Forums at around 4:00am or so on Saturday morning and you still might have a chance to get involved in the biggest thing to ever hit poetry entertaniment.
That's all for now... time for bed....

...it's been a while since I've been here. I must open with an apology to any
who were following the last few posts and somehow has not heard from me since.
The house was saved when Mike Cates (aka Knutzy The Bunny)moved in to cover half the
rent. All is wellish on the homefront.
I just got off a two week vacation at home where I didn't even read emails or answer
the phone so as to avoid Aural Tradition work, so if you've trid to reach out and I
haven't responded, know that I'm busily sorting through the 1200+ emails that
accumulated during my vacation and will get back to you soon.
Tonight was the premiere of WPF: Bar Brawl at Waves Smokehouse. It
got great reviews despite some early technical problems that literally drove me
insane enough that I had to bail out and miss half the show. A full show report will
be posted soon on the Bay Area Spoken Word Forums
and in the wpf LJ community.</span>

Cunning. Through use of many of life's faculties,
you've managed to suceed greatly. It may not
seem so to many, but isn't the the point most
times? It's only a matter of knowing more then
the others, right? I'm scared of people like
you, but in the same time, admire the ability
to see more then just the big picture; you see
yourself in it every time. You survived the end
by knowing who to knock down so you got that
last spot in the bunker... nicely done. How would you survive the end of the world? brought to you by Quizilla
